The collaboration task that I have designed for this week's blog is for the same Year 11 Physics class I spoke about last week. Students are divided into film-crews (director, producer, and writer), and collaborate to create a Science Explainer Video using Mysimpleshow. The purpose of the task is to address science inquiry skills outcomes: ACSPH083 and ACSPH085 which involve communicating science content using a variety of genres. Making an explainer video requires students to be succinct and clear in communicating their ideas. They develop social skills by working collaboratively and learn to approach tasks from a more realistic, team perspective. The small group sizes reduce the likelihood of social-loafing.

The Science Explainer Video task is part of a bigger research project on projectile motion ACSPH099. The class will be conducting an open-ended student research project to construct their knowledge about projectile motion (Hackling, 2005). The class will be working collaboratively to design and conduct thier research and this infographic provides some more information about the SRP in order to provide context for the explainer video collaborative task.
